COLOR- Not afraid... Just Confused (Match)

Hey fashion divas,  lets talk color. I know when most of you think color...fear sets in. You’re not afraid of using color... you’re just confused.  So, we’re going to break it down. First thing you need to know about color is what matches what. Second thing, color tells a story, and lastly how to induct color into your everyday life..... So what’s your story?

Ok, primary colors are Red, Blue, and Yellow. Secondary colors are Orange, Green, and Violet. What you need to know about these colors…. they are stand out hues that complement each other and can easily be added to your wardrobe.

Lets Match: yellow and violent, orange and blue, red and green (stay away from the last, it just screams Christmas). Put these hues with a neutral garment (brown, black, gray, white) and you will look stylish... Oh Yeah, standout colors are the hues that are opposite of each other, i.e. complementary colors.

In my next post we will get into how to tell your color story :)

2013 Bella Evolution Award

Happy New Year everyone...

This year we’ve had some breath taking fashion and some eye sore fashion, but we haven’t taken the time to acknowledge the women that have really grown into fashion goddesses. I have chosen 2 ladies that IMO have gone from a fashion “hell no” to the person many other stars should call for advice. The one thing I’ve noticed about these women is once they changed their hair, it took them to the next level & gave them the fashion freedom to take more chances.

When Miley Cyrus first burst on the scene as “Hanna Montana” you could depend on fashion staples like sequins, cowboy boots and glitter. Then, as Miley got older she tried a little more sophisticated look, but it just made her look older than she was (IMO). Now, Miley has come into her own, and some may consider her provocative but I consider her stylish.

In the beginning of Solange Knowles’ career, she was known only as Beyonce’s little sister. She started off as a backup dancer but now she is a singer, songwriter, plus DJ. Today she has developed into a Style icon, leaving behind her bell-bottom jeans and her inability to “work a print” into her wardrobe.  Solange IS on the forefront of fashion.

Street Stylin'

Photobucket

Luvin urban would not be complete without talking about urban streetwear most think that the key to streetwear is to wear everything big & baggy. If you stayed with that rule you would have been out of style in 2010. Streetwear is very versatile from wearing skinny jeans to baggy pants & jackets whether it's leather or jeans. Like most of urban wear it's about key pieces, stylish Tees, hoodies, ball caps, hot sneakers, eye catching rope & link chains, two/three finger rings, earrings (ie... door-knockers, hoops, for men diamond studs in one ear or both). Plus, big face watches.

360

Photobucket

Just for fun, we would like to introduce to you our 360° post. Enjoy our examples of how fashion has come full circle. Check out the lead singer of the 1979 Mary Jane Girls R&B group Joanna "JoJo" McDuffie. She is wearing a body suit with rips on the side. Next to her we put up Hellz Bellz ripped leggings from their 2010 "Culture Vulture" collection. These styles definitely give off a sexy & street-wise persona!

Check out our LUVIN URBAN play list, which features Mary Jane Girls!

Urban Prep!

Photobucket
Thanks Glamour Magazine!

Depending on how you look at it, the great thing about men's fashion is it's pretty much consistant. All it takes are slight changes to your wardrobe, and you're in style. One of the simplest styles out there is Urban Prep. All it takes is a button up shirt under a sweater or a vest, add a tie or scarf (sometimes hats). Put them all on top of some cool jeans and a hot pair of Chuck Taylors, Converse, or sexy sneakers.
