Street Stylin'

Photobucket

Luvin urban would not be complete without talking about urban streetwear most think that the key to streetwear is to wear everything big & baggy. If you stayed with that rule you would have been out of style in 2010. Streetwear is very versatile from wearing skinny jeans to baggy pants & jackets whether it's leather or jeans. Like most of urban wear it's about key pieces, stylish Tees, hoodies, ball caps, hot sneakers, eye catching rope & link chains, two/three finger rings, earrings (ie... door-knockers, hoops, for men diamond studs in one ear or both). Plus, big face watches.

Urban Prep!

Photobucket
Thanks Glamour Magazine!

Depending on how you look at it, the great thing about men's fashion is it's pretty much consistant. All it takes are slight changes to your wardrobe, and you're in style. One of the simplest styles out there is Urban Prep. All it takes is a button up shirt under a sweater or a vest, add a tie or scarf (sometimes hats). Put them all on top of some cool jeans and a hot pair of Chuck Taylors, Converse, or sexy sneakers.

Chic It Up!

Urban fashion for woman is all about accentuating your assets. Can anyone say "hour glass figure"... at least the theme of it. A cinched waist, the more hip action the better, and yes definitely legs! The point is to have that sexy curvaceous look. The asymmetrical dress ($398.00)and Sweet Heart Dress (@ revolvingclothing.com for $162.00) below are great examples of a look you seen often in this relm. They are hot, bold and will hit you in all the right places on your body.... There is only a few subtractions and additions we would do...

First, for the asymmetrical dress we would change the shoes to the Annika stiletto black heels with a snake skin platform (you can check shoedazzle.com for that). We wouldn't want to take away from the style of the dress.. so earrings is just fine! We like these flat chain loop drop earrings from TopShop.com... $28.00.

Second, for the sweet heart dress we will accessories with a Gilded Age necklace(shoedazzle.com) and a Danielle Steven gold & crystal pave ellipse link bracelet(bluefly.com).

LUVIN♥ URBAN

Let's talk about the urban side of fashion. This is the type of fashion that we love because it expresses cultural freedoms and personality. The arrival of Hip Hop in the late 70's has influenced elements in fashion and has since then broken into two categories that we call Urban Chic and Street Wear. The recipe for these looks includes the silhouette, color, accessories and a vintage feel to the outfit.

For those of you who does not remember... back in the day it was more about catching your eye than it was about matching. Think Fresh Prince of Bel Air where he would wear the checkered black and red pants with a lime green shirt. Instead we will refine it to a black checkered pant with a white tee, red hoodie and grey and green hightops.

So ladies, this month we will post urban wear that is stylish and chic...guys, we will show key pieces that can create the urban preppy look as well as the hot street gear!
