"Body Shape… Perfect Fit" [Diamond]

I’m really excited to discuss the next two body shapes, Diamond and Oval. I’ll be honest; the reason is because I fit into their category.  Another reason is because not that many people really talk about us curvy women. So, let’s get started with Diamond.

Diamond body type has shoulders that are narrower than your hips. Your waist is larger than your bust and hips, with small to medium breast and a flat buttock and you carry some weight in your upper legs. With a Diamond shape it is important to pay attention to your upper body because you tend to gain weight mainly in your stomach and hips, which makes your waist not very defined.

As a Diamond body type your best assets are shapely lower legs and beautiful arms. So, if you’re a Diamond shape remember these… one... balance your bust and shoulder with your waist and two…. adding curves to your upper body is important.

Ok, now what is the best clothing to buy?

Your tops should be:

• Wide V or U Neck
• Off the shoulder
• Boat Neck
• Structured shoulders and Embellishments
• Nipped waist

Your bottom should be:

• Dark colored pants or skirts
• A-line Skirt
• Straight Skirt

 Your dresses should be:

• Empire waist dresses
• Maxi

Your jackets should be:

• Tailored hip length
• Box shape also hip length

Extra tip: When picking your pants and skirts make sure they fall from the widest part of your hip plus, your pants should have simple pockets.

"From Work to Play" [What to Wear]

Waking up every morning trying to put together a trendy, sleek, professional look is sometimes really hard to do. It would be great if you can take this same outfit and transform it into the perfect happy hour or date night look. So, I want to share with you how to make it a little easier taking your work look to a play, because we all know that "all work and no play makes a diva a dull girl".

The cool thing about this is the pieces I’m going to suggest are clothing we have already discussed in the “Wearable Wednesday” and “20 Closet Basics” post. For a really stylish professional look try a print slouchy pants with a white/black lace button down shirt, black blazer. Accessorize it with some cream heal sandal, pink and silver faceted bead necklace and a boyfriend watch. 

Now, lets send this outfit into the play zone with some sex appeal and color. Keep the printed slouchy pants and the blazer, change into a royal blue U-neck open side tee, a block color high heels, a yellow leather clutch and a long link chain.

"Wearable Wednesday" [HOW TO]

This Wednesday we want to challenge you to bring something classy and timeless back into your wardrobe a “Pearl Necklace”, and while it’s there, let’s try to see it through different eyes. I know when most of you think about a “Pearl Necklace” the words that comes to mind is vintage, elegant and for some matron.  I think some of these words describe Pearls perfectly but two words that are missing are trendy and contemporary.

Mix classy with trendy and create a layered pearled look.  Take an off the shoulder little black dress (LBD) and accessorize it with a four strand pearl necklace or even use multiple sizes and lengths pearl necklaces.  You can also take the same layered Pearl look and combine it with a casual look of white tee, skinny jeans and blazer. 

Now, you can mix timeless with contemporary by add different metals and materials with the Pearls. Your statement piece can be a blend of gold, silver, metallic and pearl then add it to cute outfit like a poke a dot button down shirt, pleated skirt and a blazer.

If you are not really sure about pearls as statement pieces keep it simple. Add a pearl bracelet with a watch and some bracelets.

"Body Shape… the Perfect Fit" [Inverted Triangle]

Hi everyone lets continue our discussion about our body shapes.  We have taken on Straight Body Type and Hourglass Body Type, now its time for Inverted Triangle Body Type.

Inverted Triangle body type, also known as Wedge, has a large bust and broad shoulders. You have narrow hips and a straight waist; your bottom may tend to be on the flat side. Wedge body types has to be careful because broad shoulders can give you a hard look.  If you gain weight the weight would show around your belly and upper body.

As an Inverted Triangle your asset is beautifully shaped legs and you are easy to style.  So, if you’re an Inverted Triangle remember two things… one defined your waist and two... pick clothing that softens your shoulders.

Ok, now what is the best clothing to buy?

Your tops should be:

• V-neck
• Wrap tops
• Dark color shirts
• Shirts with banding at the waist

Your bottoms should be:

• Wide legs or boot cut
• Full or A-line skirts
• Embellished or flap pockets
• Straight or flared jeans

Your dresses should be:

• Peplums
• Mermaid
• A-line or Strapless

Your jacket should be:

• Tailored

Extra Tips:

• Wearing bright colors or prints on the lower half of your body will give you a more balanced look.
• High waist pants and jeans are great style for you.

"Wearable Wednesday" [HOW TO]

Today we would like to challenge everyone to introduce a new item into your ward-robe,  “slouchy pants”. Now, I know that for most of our lives we have been taught that our pants should be tailored, straight legged and have the perfect fit. But I say lets switch up our "same ole", "same ole" and try a new silhouette. Don’t get me wrong I still love my skinny jeans but variety is the spice of life.

“Slouchy Pants” by design are loose fitted with a tapered hem. Luckily, slouchy pants come in an assortment of styles. These fab pants come pleaded, cropped, flat front and so much more. You can wear them for work or for play. My personal favorite is the slouchy sweatpants.

So, this Friday I had plans to go hang out with one of my close friends. It’s been a while, and we are all doing our adult thing so we really needed some down time. As I was getting ready I get a text, “I have nothing to wear”. Ok, I needed to keep this simple because we are supposed to meet up in about 7 minutes.
