"2014 Pre-Fall Trends"

For all of the fashion lovers that can’t seem to wait six (6) months for the new trends, then Pre-Fall Collections is for you. Pre-fall collections foreshadow what some of our favorite designers Fall/Winter Collections may or may not present real soon.

So, I wanted to share with you some of the Pre-Fall Collections that caught my eye.

Designer Elie Tahari gave us clean, sporty and modern lines in her design.  Items like silk track pants, tank tops, skinny pants plus moto jackets with colors like black, cobalt, white grey and navy. It is obvious she had an athletic influence.  This collection is brought to life with materials and trims like sweater knits, tweed, also leather, silk blends, neoprene, mesh, plus linen as well as zippers.

This season Tibi by Amy Smilovic gives us cozy layers in plush wool with accent colors of green, soft pink, plus sand, mint blue, black and white, which gives a streamlined contemporary aesthetic . She uses woolens, shirting and sweater knits to create oversized check pullover sweaters. There are also abstract geos relaxed coats, lace flower print rompers, button-fronts shirts along with cropped trousers and full skirts.

Erdem brings us into his whimsical world of edgy materials in prim silhouettes. Here, I am floored by the rich colors of emerald, black, eggplant also navy, white, wine, russet including copper and bubblegum. The jar dropping designs of embroidered sweatshirt, waisted fit and flares/ floral maxis along with embellished button-fronts, blouson set and lace suits. The materials used to tell this magical story are eel skin leather, organza, lace, plus brocade, metallic, embroidery and crystal beading.

"Shop Your Skin Tone"

This weekend I went shopping to buy shirts and I was little disappointed.  I found this amazing shirt. What caught my eye was the silhouette, it was a nice and cute but once I put it on I saw that it was just wrong for me. Here’s the problem…. I looked washed out. Suddenly, I knew what I did wrong. I didn’t consider the color. I think that happens to a lot of us. We fall for the superficial and we forget look deeper. So, I think we should talk about how to determine the right color for our skin tones.

The first thing you should understand is that your skin coloring is broken down into the 4 seasons, summer/spring/ autumn/winter.  It’s also important to find out if you have cool or warm skin tone.

Let’s Determine your Skin Tone:

Take a moment and go to your mirror with the best lighting. When looking at yourself, if you see blue, rose, purple or pink undertones you fall under the cool skin tone. If your undertones are yellow, gold or beige then you fall under warm skin tone.

Now, if you are having a hard time determining your tone, wrap a white shirt around your neck (white helps reflect undertones). Another tip is to flip your arm over if you see green-ish veins you are warm tones, if you see blue-ish veins you are cool tones.

Now, your season:

Spring

Warm Tone
Very light skin
Blonde & auburn hair
Blue or green eyes

Colors that work:
Soft colors like: peach, reds, blues, light pink, yellow, coral and greens

Colors that don’t work:
Dark and dim colors

Summer

Cool Tone
Pale and pinkish skin
Natural Blonde, ash blonde or medium dark brown hair
Light blue eyes

Colors that work:
Neutrals, pastels, and subdue colors
Example: light blue, lavender and pale yellow

Colors that don’t work:
Intense colors. Black and orange

Autumn

Warm Tones
Golden skin
Red, brown, dark blonde hair
Brown or blue eyes

Colors that work:
Earth tones like beige, dark red, ivory, olive green, rich brown

Colors that don’t work:
Bright colors and cool shades

Winter

Cool Tones
Dark skin & pale skin

Colors that work:
•      Black, white grays, deep reds, bright pinks, pastels, navy blue, emerald, royal blue and
        royal purple

Colors that don’t work:
Washed out shades. Brown, orange and beige

I hope this helps☺
